Well, according to a report by the Center for Science in the Public Interest, many school cafeterias are woefully under-inspected. They also claim that in the past 15 years school cafeterias were involved in 11,000 incidents of foodborne illness. When you consider the millions of students schools and universities serve every day, it’s surprising that it’s not much more.
An ABC news crew in Fort Myers, Florida, investigated the CSPI claims in their area and found them mostly baseless.
