Rumors of a conspiracy/loophole between the USDA and meat packers to let beef that has failed to test “non-negative” for E. coli go to consumers has been lambasted by Dr. Melvin Kramer, head of EHA, a public-health consulting group.
Though the rumor of rumors seems to have gotten more press than the actual rumors, Dr. Kramer ably refutes the claims and reminds the consumers that the safe preparation and cooking is where the real food safety lies.
