The E. coli outbreak traced to Kroger and Nebraska Beef, which had been contained to Ohio and Michigan, has recently mysteriously affected three people who live away from those states.
One case, in Kentucky, is close to the Ohio border, but the other victims — in Indiana and New York — have not gone near the states of origin. Health officials are continuing to investigate any links.
